The 150,000 spectators at the Goodwood Festival of Speed were treated to an amazing sight as an extraordinary array of over 30 supercars kicked off the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed on Friday morning.
Amongst them were the Trident Marque’s two latest additions: the GranCabrio Sport and the new GranTurismo Sport MC Shift, which made its official UK debut.
The new GranTurismo Sport is Maserati’s latest coupĂ© and offers increased performance and an elegant sporty restyling. Its 4.7 litre V8 now delivers 460 hp and 520 Nm of torque and goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds (4.8 seconds for the MC Auto Shift version). It is available in two versions: the MC Shift (which was admired at the Festival of Speed) featuring a 6 speed manual robotised gearbox with a transaxle layout, and the MC Auto Shift, fitted with a 6-speed automatic gearbox by ZF.
Celebrity chef James Martin was the first one to get behind the wheel of the GranTurismo Sport: a fine connoisseur and collector of classic and modern supercars, James made the most of the Maserati’s V8 and sent the crowds into a frenzy as he sped up Goodwood Hill. Other amazing Maseratis at the Goodwood Festival of Speed were the MC12 race car, driven by GT star Michael Bartels and a stunning Maserati 8CM.
