Men In Black 3 Coming to Imax Near You On Friday
The long awaited Men In Black (MIB3) trilogy will open on Friday, May 25th to great fanfare and a lot of industry hoopla. IMAX Corporation and Columbia Pictures recently announced that the action comedy MIB3 will be released in the immersive IMAX format in some 474 theatres worldwide simultaneous with the film's North American wide release. Domestically, the film will be released in 278 theatres and in 196 theatres internationally. Additional playdates are expected to be announced for the trilogy starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, with this installment of the film being the first to be released in IMAX.
The IMAX release of Men in Black 3 will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX 3D Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
The storyline for Men in Black 3 signals the returm of agents "J" (Will Smith) and "K" (Tommy Lee Jones). J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him – secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency and the future of humankind. Barry Sonnenfeld directs the film. The film's screenplay is written by Etan Cohen, based on the Malibu Comic by Lowell Cunningham. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald produce, and Steven Spielberg and G. Mac Brown are the executive producers. MIB3 is rated rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sci-fi action violence, and brief suggestive content.
